Junkyard Jewel: 1997 Honda Accord EX Sedan with 417,786 miles

The 12th-highest-mile American-built car I've ever documented in a car graveyard.

Last month, we admired a 541k-mile discarded Ford Econoline in Colorado that now reigns as #3 on the Murilee Martin USA! USA! USA! Junkyard Odometer Standings list (and 9th overall). Today, we’ll be looking at a high-mile Ohio/Shizuoka machine that I spotted at the Fairfield (California) Pick-n-Pull during the summer of 2024.

Today’s Junkyard Jewel is a fifth-generation Accord, which was sold in the United States for the 1994 through 1998 model years. Since the North American-market Accord had a mechanical six-digit odometer only for the 1982 through 1997 model years, this car is from the final year of easy junkyard mileage reading.
